Why did Palestinians reject the partition of Palestine in 1947?
Palestinians simply rejected the partition of historical Palestine, as no nation would accept dividing their homeland with settlers.
The United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine was a proposal by the United Nations, which recommended a partition of Mandatory Palestine at the end of the British Mandate. On 29 November 1947, the UN General Assembly adopted the Plan as Resolution 181[xxxiii]
Bill Clinton in 2000 offered a two-state solution. Why did Palestinians refuse his offer?
During that peace negotiation, and in the presence of Bill Clinton, “Israel” refused to solve or even discuss the following issues:
- “Israel” refused to discuss the right of Palestinians in Jerusalem.
- Dismantle the Jewish colonies built on Palestinian lands.
- That Palestinian authority “state” should have independent economy or foreign policy.
- Uniting Palestine areas that were divided like a Swiss cheese, or cantons.
- Water sources that are controlled by Israelis and became a disaster for Palestinians!
- Right of return for about 7.2 million Palestine refugees.
In principle, the denial of the right of return for Palestine refugees and of the other above-mentioned factors, killed the peace process, and Palestinians had no choice but to refuse the Bill Clinton offer.
